A Chemist as Movie Heroine


There was a time when a chemist could be the heroine of a major motion picture.  The movie is Madame Curie (MGM 1943) starring Greer Garson and Walter Pigeon.  It was nominated for 7 academy awards including best actress, best actor and best picture.  In this clip Marie realizes the pitchblend must contain tiny amounts of a very active new element.
