Never Go Thirsty Again
Forgot to refill your water bottle? No problem, just take some
from the air. According to the article, Pulling Water From Thin Air, researchers are
looking to natural processes for effective ways to collect water from the air.
The current system for pulling condensed water droplets from the air is
inspired by the bumpy shell of desert beetles, the asymmetry of cactus spines
and the slippery surfaces of pitcher plants. Seems too good to be true,
but if done properly, water can be accumulated and directed to reservoirs.
The development of this design not only shows to be a promising way to
harvest water, but can also be useful for industrial heat exchangers.
